Shanky – Ibok (Video)

The Calabar Annual Festival known as Carnival Calabar is currently not only recognized for its 32 day blissful events, but also for being a platform for entertainers all over Africa to showcase their various talents and build their fanbase. Shanky (Washerbeats) is one of such artists who has evolved from this platform. Combining hiphop and pop, Shanky has grown into a highly skillful artist and producer. He has already worked with Ruggedman, Durella, and Kash 11, among others and he is among the top artists that has emerged from Calabar recently, joining the likes of Iyanya, T-Shawn, Major Bangs, Envy. Today Shanky and legendary entertainment media Empire release the music video to his 2013 track #iBOK, displaying his love for the music industry in Africa, while also, appreciating her growth. The video was shot and directed by Cinematographer ZeerowBadman (an associate of the Carnival Calabar). #iBOK in Efik language means “Magic”. Shanky has described his musical abilities as magical, mysterious and spiritual not typical.
