Yo! Green White Green with the hype don’t test

After consideration of tonnes of text messages and calls from budding artistes who have never been to a recording studio before, I decided to invite all of them to the studio, conducted auditions and over twenty of them will feature on the Mixtape. None of the artistes is being charged a dime for the project. The Mixtape will be made available on the internet for free downloads. The artistes will also have a reverbnation page created for them and managed by me for promotional purposes since about 90% of them have no regular access to the internet. All artistes on this project reside in Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

Also, about six producers based in Uyo and Calabar who are on this project are unknown. They all operate home based studios but are considerable good. This is in line with my plan of showcasing people who have not had the opportunity or means to get exposed.

Brief Info On The Tracks:

1. Pon Pon Pon (Dagrin cover) ft. 10 Kobo & Motiv P – 10 Kobo goes hard in Efik backed by Motiv P. This track premiered on my show and was instantly banned for airplay on Radio Akwa Ibom for its lyrical content. The track criticizes the government.

2. No One Knows (Asa cover) ft. Grandberry & DaVoice – These two under-19 boys held it down while repping on the theme, no one knows.

3. Mic Test (First Timer Freestyle) (Kanye West cover) ft. Perolski – This was an audition freestyle done by Perolski which knocked me off my feet and I decided to use it as a single off the Mixtape. It is Perolski’s first time in a vocal booth.

4. Oleku (Ice Prince cover) ft. Tubeez – These two University of Uyo boys just came together and will be recording under the name Tubeez. They went hard repping themselves both in English and Efik.

All tracks which will appear on the Mixtape are going to be remixes of songs recorded by other artistes. The follow up to the Mixtape is an album which will be released in December, 2011. The album will feature collaborations with several artistes across Nigeria and Africa.

Already, 10 Kobo and Chub Heightz of Botswana are cooking up a joint which will be the first official single from the album. The single will be premiered shortly after the Mixtape is released in the last week of June 2011.
